Two 'drug dealers' killed in Mymensingh 'gunfight'

Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported "gunfight" with members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in Kalibari Lane area of Mymensingh city early Tuesday.

The deceased are-- Md Rony, 30, son of Mamun Mia and Anwar Hussain alias Anar, 38, son of Siraj Ali hailing from city's Krishtopur and Bashabari area respectively.

Confirming the information, Mymensingh Detective Branch (DB) Officer-in-Charge Ashiqur Rahman said: “Being tipped-off, a team of detectives conducted a drive in Kalibari Lane area to capture the listed drug dealers. Sensing the law enforcers’ presence, the drug dealers opened fire on them, prompting retaliation that triggered a gunfight.”

“Police recovered the bulled-hit bodies of Rony and Anwar after the gunfight and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue,” he added.

Police claimed to recover 1750 pieces of Yaba pill, 3 rounds of bullet shield and a pistol from the spot.
