A court here in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 11) sentenced Hallmark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam to three years in jail.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of Special Judges Court-5 in Dhaka passed the order this afternoon while Jasmine Islam was present in the court during the hearing.
Chairman of Hallmark Jasmine Islam has been sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment in a case filed against her for not submitting her wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
On December 12 in 2013, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed the case with the capital's Ramna Model Police Station.
In November 2016, Jasmine Islam was sent to jail for allegedly misappropriating Tk 85.87 crore from the state-run Janata Bank in 2009-12.
On October 4, 2012, the anti-graft watchdog also filed 38 cases against 51 people, including Hallmark Group bosses and Sonali Bank officials for embezzlement of Tk 3,700 crore from the Sonali Bank.
A Dhaka court on August 4, 2013, had granted bail to Jasmine Islam on a condition that she would pay Tk 100 crore every month until Tk 2,600 crore loan was repaid.
