Customs Preventive team arrested an Indian national along with 22 gold bars, weighing around 12.3 kilograms, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Thursday.
The arrestee is Arshad Ayaz, 46, hailing from Kolkata in West Bengal.
He landed on the airport through a flight of Thai Airways from Bangkok at night.
Confirming the information, Airport Customs House (preventive) Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury said: “Tipped off, the team challenged Arshad while crossing the green channel of the airport around 1am and recovered 22 gold bars worth around Tk 60 million.”
“Later, he was handed over to police,” he added.
