Police on Wednesday arrested quota movement leader Lutfunnahar Luma from her gransfather's house at Khidrochapri village under Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj.
The members of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police are taking Luma to Dhaka.
Belkuchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak confirmed the information to the journalists today.
The official said: “A team of Counter Terrorism Unit arrested Luma with the help of the local police station. She was shown arrested in a case filed under the ICT Act.”
Lutfunnahar Luma, a second-year student of Sociology Department of Enden Women’s College, was the joint convener of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council, a national platform of demonstrating students who are demanding reformation of the quota system in public recruitments.
Earlier on Tuesday, another female student was allegedly arrested from Dhaka University campus. Later she was released.
