People of all walks of lives are paying rich tributes to Country’s noted journalist and the Daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka today.
His body was brought to the central Shaheed Minar around 10:45 am today.
Earlier, his body was taken at the daily Samakal office around 9 am for paying tribute while a Namaz-e-Janaza was held at the premises of Bangladesh University of Textiles.
Noted journalist Golam Sarwar, and also a freedom fighter, breathed his last around 9:25 pm (Bangladesh Time) on Monday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore. He was 75.
Golam Sarwar, and also the president of Editors' Council, was suffering from cardiac diseases and lung complications, relative sources said.
On July 29, he was admitted to Labaid hospital in Dhaka following a heart attack. Later, he was taken to Singapore General Hospital for better treatment, on August 3.
Sarwar was born on April 1, 1943 at Banaripara in Barisal. He had fought the freedom war in his own area in Barishal.
