The authorities of country's 11 city corporations have designated a total of 2936 spots to sacrifice animals during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area will have 620 spots, Dhaka North City Corporation area will have 543, Rajshahi 210, Chottrogram 314, Khulna 163, Barishal 135, Narayanganj 183, Sylhet 36, Cumilla 190, Rangpur 99 and in Gazpur 443 places have been fixed for sacrifice.

The decision came from a meeting of Local Government Division on July 25 while Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday discussed the matter at a meeting.

He said: "We have taken this measure to speed up the management of waste, blood and leftovers disposal after the slaughters. And I'm requesting the mayors of the cities to create public awareness in order to stop people sacrificing their animals here and there."

People usually sacrifice animals in open areas in front of their houses or on the roads and alleys, leaving smelly piles of animal parts lying around on the roads.

All city corporations across the country have taken effective measures in order to speed up the waste management.
