A Dhaka court here on Tuesday granted bail to actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas has passed the bail order upon a bond of TK 5,000 after conducting a hearing on a bail petition this afternoon.
On August 13, she was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after she fell ill.
A Dhaka court on the same day also rejected the bail petition for actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed in the case when the case was filed for allegedly spreading rumours on social media about the student protests for safe roads.
Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed’s bail will be valid till October 2 when the next hearing on the case will be held, sources said.
On August 4, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed from Uttara area in the capital.
Actress Nawshaba went to Facebook live around 4pm on the day and said that the attackers killed two students and gouged out the eyes of another at Jigatala intersection, according to a video clip.
In her Facebook live, the actress requested people to get united, take to the streets to ‘protect’ the students as they were attacked by Chhatra League activists.
