Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder on Thursday walked out of a key meeting strongly after it started, opposing EC’s decision of using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.
The commissioner also reportedly submitted a “Note of Decent” against the decision of amending Mass Representation of the People Order (RPO) 1972, according to sources.
Mahbub Talukder walked out of the meeting around 11am while Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda was in the chair.
Earlier, several leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) opposed the proposal of using Electronic Voting Machine in the general election.
Election Commission called the meeting as it compulsorily needs to amend Representation of the People Order before using EMV technology in the election.
