Dozens of leaders and activists of Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), including Gono Songhoti Andolon Convenor Zonayed Saki, have received injuries when police charged batons on them.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the LDA activists attempted to lay siege to the office of the Election Commission.
The protesters were marching towards the Election Commission office in the city's Agargaon area breaking the barricade of law enforcers at Sonargaon intersection in the city's Karwan Bazar area.
Being failed to remove them from the street, police charged baton on the left-leaning activists, leaving dozens of them injured, said Soikat Mollik, a central leader of the platform.
Later, the injured members of the platform took primary treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed SI Bacchu Mia, DMCH police outpost in-charge.
