At least five people were killed while over 15 others also injured in separate road accidents in Rajshahi and Khulna on Thursday night.
In Rajshahi, three people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus hit a truck on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at Tarapukur in Puthia upazila on Thursday night.
Two of the deceased were identified as truck driver Zakir Hossain, 35, of Charghat upazila, bus helper Ripu, 25, of Gomostapur in Chapainawabganj while the identity of another one could not be known immediately.
Confirming the news, Puthia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shakil said: "The accident took place around 11:30pm when the Dhaka-bound ‘Shyamoli Paribahan’ bus rammed a sand-laden stationary truck on the road, leaving three people dead on the spot and 15 others injured."
The injured were taken to Puthia upazila Health Complex.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue for medical examination.
In Khulna, two people were killed when a truck crashed into a motorbike on Khulna-Satkhira road at Jilerdanga in Dumuria upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased are Wahiduzzaman, 30 and Naharul Islam, 28.
Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Habib Hossain said: "The Khulna-bound truck from Satkhira hit the motorbike coming from the opposite direction around 11 pm, leaving two motorcyclists dead on the spot.
The bodies were taken to Khulna Medical College and Hospital.
