Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said the use of the electronic voting machine (EVM) in the upcoming national election depends on the enactment of the law.
Nurul Huda came up with the remarks today while speaking at a workshop on using EVM at Electoral Training Institute in the city’s Agargaon area.
"If the EVM is used, voting will be easier and vote-rigging will be protected," he said.
While speaking to the participants of the workshop, CEC said: "People have questions about the fair use of the electronic voting machine (EVM) in the election. However, we will try to assure the fairness through our effort. EVM will not be used if there is any technical error."
Suggesting the politicians to know about the electronic voting machine (EVM), KM Nurul Huda said: "We should drive towards modern technology and move out of the manual system for the swiftness and perfection in the upcoming polls."
