The new Guinness World Record that Dhaka South City Corporation's (DSCC) made earlier this year by its cleanliness campaign in the capital has been dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon made the announcement at a programme in the capital this afternoon.
DSCC's Dhaka Cleanliness Campaign held on April 13 this year at the Central Shaheed Minar premises has set the new Guinness record in the category for "Most people sweeping the floor (single venue)."
According to the website of the Guinness Book of World Records, the announcement was made yesterday while Guinness authorities handed over the certificate to DSCC mayor the same day.
Over 7,000 people participated in the cleanliness programme in Dhaka while 5,026 people joined the cleanliness event in India's Ahmedabad.
The event was jointly organised by DSCC and Reckitt Benckiser for building awareness among Dhaka residents on cleanliness and hygiene.
