The Election Commission is set to appoint some 2,000 people in different posts including the Thana Assistant Election Officer ahead of the parliamentary polls.
Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder made the disclosure to the reporters at his office at the Nirbachan Bhaban in city’s Agargaon area yesterday.
He said: “The commission will employ around 2,000 people including 517 Thana Assistant Election Officers ahead of the national polls.”
"Although, this manpower is not yet adequate, the EC will be more capable after recruiting them," he added.
Besides, a meeting of the EC committee for appointment, promotion, administrative reforms and rearrangement and skill development was held yesterday with Mahbub Talukder in the chair. The meeting proposed promotion of EC 75 officials.
