BNP has rejected the verdict in the August 21 grenade attack cases, terming it politically motivated.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir briefed the journalists immediately after the verdict was delivered.
He said: "The verdict is a naked manifestation of satisfying government’s political vengeance. By pronouncing the verdict, the government has set another example of taking political revenge using the judiciary."
Condemning the verdict, the party also called a week-long protest programme today.
As part of the programmes, BNP will demonstrate in all cities and district towns on Thursday.
Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal and Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal will form human chains across the country on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal will stage demonstrations on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (next week) respectively.
The party will also take out black-flag processions in all cities and district towns on Tuesday (next week).
