A group of unidentified youths has vandalised and locked down the counter of Hanif Paribahan in port city's Dampara following the verdict of August 21 grenade attack case.
The attack was launched around 2:30 pm on Saturday when people came to know that the owner of the transport company, Mohammed Hanif, who is now absconding, has been awarded death penalty in the August 21 grenade attack case.
Mahbubul Islam, in-charge of the ticket counter, claimed that some 30 members of Chhatra League attacked the ticket counter and vandalised glasses, television, laptops, furniture and other valuables.
He also claimed that the attackers have looted some Tk 50,000 from the cash box and locked down the counter office.
However, Borhan Uddin, president of Chattogram south district unit of BCL, denied their involvement with the attack.
Khulshi Police Station OC Sheikh Nasir Uddin said: "Being informed, we have deployed a team of police in the area and the situation is under control now. "
No case was filed yet and none was arrested.
