Former Chief Justice SK Sinha has got political asylum in the United States of America.
According to a report of Kalerkantho Bangla version, US Department of Foreign affairs gave the approval on Friday.
Earlier, while addressing the launching ceremony of SK Sinha's much-talked-about book "Broken Dream" at Washington Press Club, the former Chief Justice disclosed that he had sought asylum in the country.
He said: "I don't have any status in the country [USA] as now I'm staying here as a refugee. So, I have sought asylum but I'm yet to get any official result in this regard."
He claimed that despite getting invitations from UK's House of Commons, European Union, and Geneva, he cannot pay any visit as no decision has yet been made on granting him asylum.
Noting that he is not feeling secure in the USA, the ex-CJ further said: "I am frightened and now staying inside the house all day. The detectives from Bangladesh monitor my house 24/7 and capture photos of those who pay a visit to me."
