A week-long training programme on investigative journalism for Kalerkantho journalists, conducted by Sasa Lekovic, a reputed journalist from Croatia, came to an end today. After the training session, certificates were handed over to the participants.
With Swedish Fojo Media Institute finance, local NGO Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) and Daily Kaler Kantho jointly organized the week-long training programme.
In presence of Kalerkantho's Executive Editor Mostofa Kamal, MRDI Executive Director Hasibur Rahman Mukul and Project Manager Miraj, Kalerkantho's Deputy Editor Titu D Gupta and Additional News Editor Gaus R Piash, a discussion was held today when the strategy of improving practical journalism as well as the contemporary challenges in this sector was highlighted.
Sasa Lekovic, who is working as a journalist for the last 39 years, said: "Media protection is needed for social welfare and development while investigative journalism plays an important role in maximizing the success of mass media."
"To get success in investigative journalism, there is no alternative to honesty, transparency, courage, and hard work," he added.
