A Bangladesh national was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Chaukaa border under Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj early Monday.
The deceased is Jem, 30, a cattle trader, son of Abdul Hamid from Parchauka village of the upazila.
According to the source, BSF troops from Daulatpur camp opened fire on a group of cattle traders along the border when they went there to bring cattle through Chowka border, leaving Jem seriously injured.
Jem succumbed to his injuries when other cattle traders were taking him to home.
Captain of BGB-53 battalion LT Col Sajjad Sarwar said: "The matter was not reported to us. We are looking into this."
