Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have arrested eight NGO employees along with Tk 13 lakh for their alleged involvement in funding militancy.

Mohibul Islam, assistant commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, confirmed the news.

He said: "Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers have arrested eight employees of 'Small Kindness Bangladesh' along with Tk 13 lakh from the capital's Mirpur area on Wednesday night"

"They have collected money from Pakistan in order to fund Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansar Al Islam," he added.

The identities of the arrestees were not released. However, law enforcers said most of them are the members of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
