Outlaw killed in Rajbari 'gunfight’

An outlawed party leader has been killed in a reported gunfight with detectives in Rajbari Sadar upazila.

The deceased is--Mohammad Ali, 38, a regional commander of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP Marxist-Leninist) Lal Pataka faction, and also the son of Wahab Sheikh, of Pachuria union.

Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, OC, District Detective Branch of Police, said: "The detective conducted an anti-narcotics drive in Kuti Pachuria area early Thursday. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the outlawed party members opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. "

"The extremists at one stage fled the scene leaving behind one of their bullet-hit accomplices, who was later identified as Mohammad Ali," he added.

He was wanted in four cases, said the detectives.
