The Election Commission has cleared seven aspirants, including BNP-nominated candidate Golam Maula Rony, off from its cancellation list.
The Commission made the decision today after holding the hearing on the appeals filed by the aspirants at the commission’s Agargaon office.
The EC heard 15 appeals today till filing the report at 12 noon and removed seven aspirants from its rejection list.
Earlier on December 2, the Election Commission cancelled a total of 786 nomination papers, out of 3,065, submitted by the aspirants in 300 constituencies to contest the 11th parliamentary elections.
According to the factsheet of the Election Commission Secretariat, a total of 2,279 nomination papers were declared valid by the 66 returning officers across the country.
Of the rejected candidates, over 500 filed appeals against the EC's decision as of yesterday.
The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is December 9 and the electoral symbols will be allocated on December 10 while the election will be held on December 30.
