Hasna Hena, a teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, has secured bail from a Dhaka court in connection with a case filed for allegedly provoking a ninth-grader to commit suicide.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order today, considering the age of the teacher.
Hasna Hena was sent to jail on Thursday after her arrest on Wednesday night.
The members of the detective branch of police picked her up from the city’s Uttara area amid protests of students over the death of Aritree Adhikari, who reportedly committed suicide after being rebuked by her teachers on December 3.
Aritree's father Dilip Adhikary, later, filed the case with Paltan Police Station on December 4, accusing three teachers -- acting principal Nazneen Ferdous, morning shift in-charge Zinat Akhtar, and class teacher Hasna Hena.
But, soon after the arrest of the 51-year-old teachers, a group of students took to the street and started staging protests, demanding her immediate release.
