At least 30 people received injuries in separate clashes between garment workers and police in different areas of Savar and Ashulia.
The RMG workers have been staging violent protests in different parts of Dhaka and Savar demanding the implementation of the new pay scale since last four days.
The authorities concerned yesterday assured them of settle off the issue in a short time and asked them to return to their workstations.
However, hundreds of workers from different garments factories at Ulail in Savar and Kathgara in Ashulia area brought out processions this morning.
At one stage, the workers pelted brickbats at police triggering a chase and counter-chase that lasted for about an hour.
Police charged baton and lobbed teargas shells to disperse them, leaving at least 30 people injured.
The traffic movement on Bypile-Abdullahpur highway remained suspended for about an hour due to the unrest.
A tense situation is prevailing in the entire area following the incident.
Later, a team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) started patrolling different areas to fend off further troubles.
Besides, additional police have been deployed in Savar and Ashulia areas to avert any untoward situation, said Shana Shaminur Rahman, director of Industrial Police-1.
Following the unrest, several numbers of factory authorities issued closure notices at the gates of their respective factories.
Earlier yesterday, an RMG worker was killed and 30 others injured in clashes with police during demonstrations at Hemayetpur.
