Drug peddler killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug peddler was killed during firing by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police at Jaliipara area under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar today morning.

The deceased is Mostaq Ahmad Prakash Muchu, 35.

Confirming the news, Teknaf-2 BGB commander Lt Colonel Asadud Zaman Chowdhury said: "A team of police arrested Mostak on Saturday night. Following his information, police in association with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted a drive in the area around 5 am to recover arms and drugs. When the team reached the area, cohorts of Mostak opened fire on the team to snatch him away, prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering the gunfight."

The gunfight left Mostak dead on the spot.
