Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said her government will root out corruption from the country through strict enforcement of laws. She also stressed the need for a national unity forgetting all the differences to take the country forward.
She said this while addressing the nation today. The address has been aired simultaneously by Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, private TV channels and radio stations.
The Awami League, the present ruling party in the country, has formed the government for the third consecutive terms this year.
Out of 298 seats, the party has gained 259 while Jatiya Party bagged 20 seats and Jatiya Oikyafront only seven in the December 30’s 11th national polls.
Sheikh Hasina took oath as the Prime Minister for historic fourth time as well as consecutive third term and formed a new cabinet on January 7.
She took oath as the prime minister for fourth term with 47-member council of ministers on the day.
The new council of ministers — including 24 ministers, 19 state ministers and three deputy ministers — took oath at a state ceremony held at Bangabhaban Darbar Hall the same day.
