Bangladeshi prominent golfer Siddikur Rahman has boycotted Myanmar Open Golf Tournament, condemning Rohingya oppression. The Asian Tour Tournament is set to open on Thursday in Yangon.
Siddikur said: “I can’t attend the tournament as Myanmar military are oppressing Rohingyas. Moreover, I am scared to travel Myanmar in this turmoil condition.”
A total of 165 golfers will attend the Myanmar Open Tournament. Winner will be awarded prize money $7.5 lakh.
Siddikur Rahman as a first Bangladeshi grabbed Brunei Open championship in 2010. He also won Hero Indian Open in 2013.
