The government is intentionally creating political instability in the country by arresting opposition party's leaders and activists
out of jealousy for BNP chief's popularity.
He made the remarks in a press statement issued on Friday.
In the press note, he stated: "The government became jealous of the popularity of BNP chief Khaleda Zia and now the ruling party leaders are desperate to secure their positions by repressing BNP members."
"The Awami League is intentionally creating political instability by arresting opposition party's leaders and activists as the ruling party wants to stay in power," added the statement.
The BNP spokesperson condemned the arrests of dozens of party leaders and activists across the country.
He also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all party leaders and activists, who have been languishing in jail on false charges.
