BNP leader MK Anwar will be buried at his family graveyard in Homna upazila of Comilla today, following the return of his son Masud Anwar and daughter Khadija Anwar who started for home from the US.
BNP Standing Committee Member and former minister MK Anwar died early Tuesday.
He breathed his last at 1:20am on the day at his Elephant Road residence in the capital. He was 85.
MK Anwar had been suffering from diabetics, heart disease and various old age complications.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed deep condolence at the death of Anwar.
The BNP leader is survived by two sons and a daughter to mourn his death.
Anwar's first janaza was held at Kataban Mosque at 10am on the day.
MK Anwar retired from the government service in 1990 after discharging the duty of the Cabinet Secretary.
He joined BNP in 1991 and was elected MP from Comilla’s Homna constituency for several times and he was inducted into the cabinet twice in 1991 and 2001 when the party came to the power.
