BNP will start distributing nomination forms among the interested mayoral candidates for by-polls to the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today.
The decision has been taken during a meeting with party leaders held at the Gulshan office of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday night.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has confirmed the news.
The ruling Awami League has started distributing nomination forms among the interested mayoral candidates for DNCC by-polls yesterday.
The form distributing programme was started at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office here in the capital on the day morning.
Russel Asheki and Adam Tamiz Haq have collected their nomination forms from AL’s Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap in the first day of distribution.
The party will distribute nomination forms till January 15 sources said.
The by-polls to the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) are scheduled to be held on February 26.
Earlier, the authorities of Election Commission (EC) announced the polls schedule on January 9.
DNCC mayor’s office fell vacant after the death of Mayor Annisul Huq on November 30 last year while the Local Government Division declared the post vacant on December 1.
