A Dhaka Court today placed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rajib Ahsan on a five-day remand.
He was placed on remand on charges of destructive activities and obstructing police duty when protesting the verdict of a special court sentencing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order on Friday.
Police have arrested Rajib Ahsan and three others from in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday afternoon.
Some 20-25 JCD leaders and activists brought out a procession in Nayapaltan area around 4:30 pm yesterday protesting the verdict of a special court sentencing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to five-year imprisonment and five others, including Tarique Rahman, to 10 years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
However, police dispersed the procession and picked up four of them, including Rajib, witnesses said.
