BNP leaders will sit with pro-BNP professionals on Thursday afternoon (tomorrow) to discuss the evolving situation following the imprisonment of party chief Khaleda Zia.
BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar said the meeting has been convened by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He said: "The next course of action will be discussed during the meeting."
The meeting is set to begin at 4pm at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in the capital.
Earlier today, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists took position near Jatiya Press Club since 11am in the pre-announced hunger strike programme, to press home their demand but they have ended their hunger strike upon request from police, three hours ahead of schedule.
On February 8, a special court here in Dhaka handed down five-year imprisonment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia after convicting her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Court-5 in Dhaka delivered the verdict. Khaleda’s son Tarique Rahman and four others have also been sentenced to 10 years in jail in the same case.
