BNP has submitted memoranda to the deputy commissioners of all the districts across the country on Sunday, demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The Dhaka district BNP leaders and activists have submitted the memoranda to the Dhaka DC Mohammad Salahuddin around 11am today.
Demanding the release, BNP also staged its mass signature campaign programme across the country yesterday.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the programme at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital around 11am on Saturday.
On February 15, after human chain, sit-in and hunger strike programmes, BNP announced mass signature campaign, memorandum submission and demonstration programmes at district and upazila level across the country.
A special court here in Dhaka handed down five-year imprisonment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia after convicting her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
Khaleda’s son Tarique Rahman and four others have also been sentenced to 10 years in jail in the same case.
