BNP is scheduled to stage a human shield programme in the capital today, demanding the release of their Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP has announced the programme yesterday as part of the party’s peaceful protests to press home their demands.
According to the announcement, the hour-long human chain programme from 11am to 12pm will be held in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, a senior joint secretary general of the party, came up with the announcement in a press briefing held at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters on Monday.
“We have informed the law enforcement agencies about today’s programme,” the BNP leader further said.
On February 8, a special court in Dhaka handed down five-year imprisonment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia after convicting her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Khaleda’s son Tarique Rahman and four others have also been sentenced to 10 years in jail in the same case.
