Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today claimed that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was completely well, not ill at all in the jail.
“It is her party conspiracy to send her abroad in the name of treatment,” he added.
Tofail and also senior Awami League leader came up with the comments while responding to journalists after attending a rally organised by local Awami League at Digholodi union of Sadar upazila on Sunday.
“If she was ill, she could not deny getting admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University or Combined Military Hospital, so she was completely well,” the minister told reporters.
While responding to reporters he also said: “Khaleda Zia and her party have chosen a specific hospital in Dhaka other than CMH and BSMMU because they will ask the physicians to recommend her treatment abroad.”
“Prime minister, president, chiefs of the army and other high-ups are receiving treatment here at the CMH. It is a recognized and excellent hospital in Dhaka. But she has refused to be treated here. So a conspiracy is going on to take her abroad in the name of treatment.”
