Bangladesh Nationalist Party has staged a protest rally in Dhaka city this morning, seeking the release of the party’s imprisoned chairperson Khaleda Zia and alleged conspiracy against Tarique Rahman, now acting chairman of the party.
Led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed, the protest rally was started from the new entrance gate of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 8am and ended at Chankharpul intersection area in the capital.
Rizvi Ahmed spoke to the partymen before starting the rally while leaders and activists from BNP, Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) took part in the rally.
Earlier, on July 9, BNP observed countrywide token hunger strike for unconditional release and proper treatment of Khaleda Zia.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years in jail in a graft case by a special Dhaka judge’s court on February 8 and sent to old Dhaka Central Jail.
