A video showing a team of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station charging batons on Awami League's March 7 rally goers went viral on Social networking sites.
The seven-minute video showed that a team of Tejgaon Industrial Police dispersed a procession heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan by charging batons on the participants.
The incident occurred when the procession was trying to cross the Hatirjheel area to make their way to the Suhrawardy Udyan defying police barricade and hindering the traffic system.
When the police stopped the participants, they started chanting slogans and took position on the street.
At one stage, police went violent and attacked the "grassroots-level" leaders and activists of the ruling party, dispersing them immediately.
Allegation raised that Tejgaon Industrial Police Station OC Abdur Rashid launched the "attack" in line with the directives from the home minister.
The participants claimed that more than 50 people received injuries in the incident.
Kalerkantho English version tried several times to contact OC Abdur Rashid but he was not available for any comment.
