Popular film star and also the founder of Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Roads) movement, Ilias Kanchan, today went on Facebook live and asked the motorcyclists and other car drives on a Dhaka street to take the right tracks.
He went on live through his Facebook account around 5:42pm on Thursday (today).
His live commentary got over 500 shares and 2K reactions and nearly 12K views within just an hour.
In the live stream, he angrily asked the motorcyclists and other car drivers to go back to the right track on the street and shamed the unruly bikers, who took the wrong track.
“Didn't you see the boys and girls have staged movement recently and taught us how to ply the cars and bikes on the street?” Ilias Kanchan asked the motorcyclists. “I am filming you live, so people can see you clearly. They [people] would spit on your face,” he pointed to the unruly bikers.
In the recent movement, apart from safer road, students also demanded exemplary punishment for the responsible persons over the death of two students who lost their lives in a road crash in capital’s Kurmitola area.
On July 29, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib were killed and several received injuries on Airport Road as a Jabal-e-Noor bus ploughed through a crowd while competing with another bus of the same company.
The deaths sparked the fellows and students across the country staged a week-long demonstration that went violent in Dhaka and many students got injured.
