British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT Bangladesh) has announced the opportunity for enjoying maternity leave of nine months for the female employees of the organisation.
BAT Bangladesh Managing Director Shehzad Munim came up with the announcement at the renovation ceremony of the child day care centre for its staff ‘Angel’s Nest’ in the capital.
Shwapna Bhowmick, Country Manager, Marks and Spencer plc, Bangladesh Office, was present at the event as the chief guest.
Rumana Rahman, Regional Head of HR, BAT Asia Pacific & Middle East, BAT Bangladesh Executive Committee and high officials of the organisation were also present among others.
Mr Munim said, “I am very delighted that BAT Bangladesh has set a new benchmark with this policy.”
“Human Resources Management and its continuous advancement is one of our top priorities. When employees are content with their lives, it shows in their work as well,” he said.
Rumana Rahman said that the policy has been introduced in accordance with the progression of the society. “It will highly benefit the working parents of the organisation.”
Employees who are geographically dispersed and work in continuous shifts will be able to benefit from the policy, says a media release.
The policy will also be applicable for adoptive parents. Such remarkable policies of BAT Bangladesh will remain as an example for all other companies in the industry, it said.
