Deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and squally weather may affect the maritime ports and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department, marked low over west central Bay and adjoining area intensified into a depression over the same area and was centered at 09 am today about 865kms Southwest of Chittagong port, 820kms Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 745kms South or Southwest of Mongla port and7 40kms South or Southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north or westerly direction.
Riverport warning: In association with rain or thundershowers temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speed 60-80kph is likely to occur over the regions of Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal no two (r) two.
Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
