Tauquir’s ‘Halda’ wins best film at SAARC Film Festival

The full-length Bangladeshi film titled Haldaa directed by Tauquir Ahmed has taken four awards- best film, best cinematography, best editing and the best music- for the ‘Feature Films’ category at the 8th SAARC Film Festival 2018.

The 8th SAARC Film Festival was held in Sri Lanka, Colombo from May 22 to 26. The film Halda is about the woes of fishermen.

Two other Bangladeshi films -Khaacha directed by Akram Khan and Akhi O Taar Bondhura- directed by Morshedul Islam also took part in the festival.

Khaacha was selected for the ‘Feature Films’ category while Akhi O Taar Bondhura was for ‘Master Films’ category.

The SAARC Film Festival is one of the most successful programmes among the SAARC cultural countries and its award are given in the following categories- Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor Best Sound Designer, Best Original Score and Two Special Jury Awards.
