Adequate security measures have been taken across the country in a bid to hold the 11th national parliamentary election slated to be held on Sunday (tomorrow).

All election materials were sent to the districts by yesterday night and handed over to presiding officers this morning, according to election officials.

The voting will be started around 8am and continued till 4pm without any break on the day.

The members of Border Guard Bangladesh and army personnel were seen checking vehicles at several places in the capital on Friday.

On December 18, a total of 1,016 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces were deployed across the country to control the law and order situation.

Members of army were also deployed in 389 upazilas with navy personnel in 18 coastal upazilas for the Sunday’s polls.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner M Asaduzzaman Mia, however, yesterday said they have taken necessary security measures ahead of the national election.

He further said: “Necessary security measures have been taken to avoid any sorts of conflict during the elections and as a result, none would be able to intimidate the voters.”
