India’s noted Cardiac Surgeon Dr Devi Shetty is flying to Dhaka today to treat ailing Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif told this to reporters after visiting Obaidul Quader at the hospital around 11am today.

Dr Devi Shetty is expected to arrive in Dhaka anytime on Monday (today).

Private TV station NEWS24, a sister concern of the daily Kalerkantho, has confirmed the news.

Mahbubul Alam Hanif also said: “Obaidul Quader’s health condition is getting improved gradually and the next course of action will be taken after Indian doctor’s arrival here.”

Earlier this morning, Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina urged countrymen to pray for Obaidul Quader for his quick recovery.

The Awami League President also instructed the leaders and activists of the party not to rush at the hospital, considering the inconvenience of the patients undergoing treatment at the hospital.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday visited ailing Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

Earlier on Sunday, the two-member medical team from Singapore reached Dhaka and visited the ailing politician at the BSMMU around 8pm yesterday.
